This course is about to introduction of Biomedical Instrumentation: basic definitions (instruments, measurements and strategies with the biomedical systems), International System of Units and their application, the basic architecture of biomedical equipment and classification of the biomedical technology (clinical diagnostic based in the characterization of bio-signals, clinical samples and medical images, systems for clinical rehabilitation and systems for the life support), the origin of bio-signals and their characteristics to acquisition. Electrodes, interface electrode-electrolyte-tissue. Classification of electrodes, composition and clinical characteristics, other sensors to acquire some physiologic variables, characterization of the front-end of biomedical systems for the clinical diagnostic based in the acquisition of bio-signals: (a) Electrocardiography system (ECG & ABP). (b) Respiratory system (RF). (c) Electromyography system (EMG) (d) Electroencephalography system (EEG). Interferences and noise in biomedical systems. Electrical stimulators. Security of users and patients.  New tendencies in the design of biomedical technologies.
